We support future changemakers to solve global challenges

The twenty-first century is presenting wicked challenges, from climate change and powerful disinformation to political instability and widening socioeconomic inequality.

Maintaining economic, social, and environmental wellbeing while facing these challenges requires deep expert knowledge and innovative capability.

Together, research and innovation can explore the solutions to these problems, while growing existing sectors, developing new ones, and creating entrepreneurial opportunities to transform regional and global economies.

We bring together diverse stakeholders to build knowledge resilience.

Knowledge resilience is the ability to adapt to and solve emerging complex challenges based on evidence, insight, and expertise. It is the foundation of an innovative, future-focused economy.

What we do

We use knowledge to build a society that is resilient in the face of global challenges by:

  • We collaborate on state of the art research into knowledge resilience and the development of sustainable innovation ecosystems.

We focus on future researchers as a pipeline for next-generation thought leaders who are agile, innovative, and creative enough to tackle wicked challenges.

  • We translate cutting-edge academic research to industry contexts, support policymakers to enact data-driven decisions, and collaborate with partners to push the boundaries of knowledge through original research.

  • Research students are our future horizon-scanners, experts, and leaders.

By supporting the translation of research and research skills at scale, we’re building a pipeline of new talent and insights that deliver real solutions for real problems.

  • We act as a conduit between academic researchers, growth-minded industry and entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders in creating a flourishing and future-focused knowledge economy.

We facilitate the cross-sector collaboration that fosters collective prosperity.

We help researchers fulfil their role as deep problem solvers and changemakers who disseminate new knowledge and new capacity for innovation throughout society.

We facilitate the transfer of knowledge between universities, government, and industry, with a focus on future researchers.

The International Centre for Knowledge Resilience (ICKR) is a joint research venture between eight universities, led by the University of Technology Sydney and Institut Mines-Télécom.

Our researchers have been pioneering this critical work for over a decade.
